CobraVision
Creates A Scene At The 60th Edinburgh Film Festival |
Award-winning
Cobra Beer is set to take Edinburgh by storm for the next two weeks
as 'The Official Beer of the 60th Edinburgh International Film
Festival' (EIFF), with a raft of bar promotions, events and
activities around Cobra's innovative short film competition CobraVision.
To celebrate
its title as the 'Official Beer' of the festival, Cobra is running a
promotion in six Montpelier Group bars of 'Buy 2 Bottles of Cobra
Beer&ldots;and Get 1 Free!'. The vouchers will be distributed at the
Cameo Cinema, The Filmhouse and in all 1,700 EIFF delegate packs.
Cobra Beer will also be the exclusive beer available at dedicated
EIFF events and VIP parties, including the Opening Party held at
Cargo, EIFF 60th Birthday Party hosted at the National Gallery of
Scotland and Mirrorball Party at Dragonfly.
Launching on
14th August, the prestigious Edinburgh International Film Festival is
the longest continually running film festival in the UK attracting
over 55,000 visitors, with 100 feature films and 150 short films
shown in four venues across Edinburgh. CobraVision will host a number
of events throughout the festival, which are designed to support
up-and-coming film talent. Nik Powell, Director of the National Film
& Television School will host an open debate and a Q & A
session with a panel of industry insiders, including BAFTA winning
short film director, Adrian MacDowall and Scottish BAFTA winning
short film director Simon Hynd at the Cameo Cinema on Wednesday 23rd
August at 2pm. Entitled "I'm Your Film - Get me Out There!",
the panel discussion will aim to give film-makers insight and advice
on how to successfully market and distribute their own films and
ultimately how to get them out there and seen by audiences.
After the
panel event two lucky filmmakers will watch their CobraVision films
shown to the industry on the big screen for the very first time. The
two filmmakers - Edward McGown and Sam Rogers - were selected by the
CobraVision judging panel from entrants throughout July to have their
films premiered at locations across the festival and enjoy a glitzy
all-expenses-paid trip to EIFF.
Cobra is also
proud to support a networking event for up-and-coming filmmakers
which is hosted by the Glasgow Media Access Centre (GMAC) -
Scotland's longest running open access facility for young filmmakers
- on Tuesday 22nd August 12pm at The Sheraton Hotel. The networking
will provide an invaluable opportunity for filmmakers to meet their
peers and exchange ideas with industry professionals.
Simon Edwards,
Marketing Director of Cobra Beer says: "We are thrilled to be
the Official Beer of the 60th Edinburgh International Film Festival.
At Cobra we continually strive to be innovative in all that we do and
CobraVision is an initiative to support and encourage creativity and
filmmaking in the UK. EIFF, which is regarded as the home of
ground-breaking and moving cinema, is the perfect platform to express
this innovation."
When
CobraVision launched last year, it was hailed as an innovative,
contemporary competition, backed by leading film industry leaders,
which gives budding film makers the opportunity to get their short
films shown on Cobra's sponsorship of blockbuster movies on itv2,
itv3 and itv4. Each month, CobraVision judges, including actor Jimi
Mistry ('The Guru'), CEO of Film London Adrian Wootton, Director of
the National Film & Television School Nik Powell and Editor of
Film Review Nikki Baughan, select their favourite films to win Adobe
software prizes and be shown on national television. These films are
also available to download and vote for on Sony PSP's portal www.yourpsp.com
and the winning films are unveiled at the glamorous annual
CobraVision Awards.
