Imli Head Chef Samir and Rajesh Suri - all set for Diwali and Curry Week

Imli Signs Up For National Curry Week

BIBA Newcomer of the Year winning restaurant Imli in London's Soho recently became one of the first restaurants to sign up for National Curry Week, sponsored this year by Cobra Beer and held in aid of Oxfam.

The event coincides with Diwali so Imli will be offering a percentage from their special Diwali menu to help the cause. We recently visited Imli and discovered just what makes Rajesh Suri feel that the new concept will not only succeed in its present location but also roll out elsewhere.

In Menu, we have been banging on for some time about smaller portions and greater taste and there is obviously no need to persuade Imli Head Chef Samir who has produced a perfectly delightful menu full of exciting tastes and nuances. The oohs and aahs went round the table as one delicately produced dish after another appeared from the kitchen ranging from wonderful Sev Puri and Banana Dosa to Amritsari Fish and Goan Pork. There are no starters or main courses with the chosen dishes appearing one after another in almost tapas style.

Junior reporter Madeline describes the décor as 'inviting' with vibrant orange, light yellow and creamy white colours and the room has a light, refreshing, friendly feel. Costwise, Imli represents tremendouse value. A light, refreshing Lunch Menu is available for just £7 offering three dishes from a selection of ten. Meals to go have not been forgotten either with the Light Meal available for just £8.50 and the Classic Meal for £10.50 per person.

Congratulations to the Tamarind team for an excellent concept and we think it would do very well in the Home Counties - especially Surrey, where we are - at least that is what we tried to tell Mr Suri.
