Piccolino
Arrives In Newcastle
Piccolino,
the renowned Italian restaurant and bar, is opening in the heart of
Newcastle at Trinity Gardens in October 2006. |
The 250 seater
restaurant and bar, which will have an 'al fresco' dining option, is
the tenth Piccolino to be opened by The Individual Restaurant Company
which has successful operations throughout the north and south of
England. It promises to bring to Newcastle Italian food "as it
should be". The Manchester venue is described as "by far
the best Italian restaurant in the city" and is consistently
highly recommended as somewhere to enjoy a great atmosphere, good
food and excellent service.
The opening
represents an investment of around £1.3m and will create 70 new
jobs in the city.
Chief
executive, Steven Walker says: "We are no strangers to
Newcastle, having created the successful Est Est Est chain, which was
subsequently sold to City Centre Restaurants. The new Trinity Gardens
development, ideally located in the heart of the Quayside, has
provided us with an opportunity to return to the city where we
recognize there is a strong demand for high quality restaurant
dining. Having worked with fresh Italian food for the last twenty
years we are excited about bringing a real taste of Italy to
Newcastle and look forward to welcoming people of this vibrant area."
Michelle
Percy, marketing director of Silverlink Property Developments, said:
"Piccolino complements a new, emerging social and leisure area
on the Quayside. Trinity Gardens is a contemporary, high quality
location and Piccolino provides a fresh, modern approach to Italian
dining. Combined with the nearby Silk Room and the future arrival of
Terry Laybourne the area will have an unrivalled mix of eating venues."
Inspired by
the mix of traditional charm and contemporary buzz associated with
New York brasseries, Piccolino offers a prodigious menu of classic
Italian dishes covering antipasto, pizza, pasta, meat and fish, all
served with welcoming and efficient service. The interior is
classically designed, using materials that will only improve with age.
Diners can
enjoy mouth-watering temptations from the menu, which varies from a
selection of traditional pasta and risotto dishes to the popular
Pollo alla valdostana (chicken baked with a filling of mozzarella and
ham, sweet pepper and tomato sauce). Starters include Funghi ripieni
(stuffed field mushrooms, garlic, spinach and goats cheese) and
Gamberoni aglio e olio (King prawns, chilli and garlic). And who can
resist Coppa di gelato con ciliegie (vanilla and chocolate ice cream
with cherries and toasted almonds) to finish off the meal in true
Italian style.
Find
Piccolino at Stockbridge Building, Newcastle, NE1 2HJ.
