Thai Shrimp On The Menu

 

A reception was held recently at the Thai Embassy to extol the virtues of Thai shrimp.

For the past decade, Thailand has been a major producer of shrimp to the world especially to the European market. Thai shrimp farmers and processing companies have worked hard to live up to expectations not only in producing the quality shrimp also in research and development to ensure quality for the future.

The reception introduced two new shrimp products : one is Thai cooked head shell on vannamei shrimp in salted water and the other is Thai fresh chilled shrimp.

More than 35,000 farms are located along Thailand's long coastline and produce cultivated shrimp including Vannamei White, Black Tiger, Freshwater and Seawater.

Although frozen shrimp remains a major export, value added shrimp products are increasingly popular including Breaded (butterfly, torpedo, popcorn) ; Battered (shrimp rolls, balls etc) ; Dim Sum ; Marinated (lemon garlic, spicy Cajun) ; Shrimp Rings with cocktail sauce.
