Edinburgh's
popular Bengali restaurant, Voujon, will be celebrating the Bengali
New Year on Sunday 15 April with a traditional new year banquet at
the restaurant. Voujon, which is renowned for its modern approach to
dining with its minimalist décor and contemporary designer
china, will be serving a three-course banquet featuring a variety of
starters, curries and traditional puddings.
The restaurant
owner, Salim Miah, said
"We
celebrate the Bengali new year at home with a huge feast and lots of
family. We wanted to recreate this in the restaurant, so we are
offering a banquet similar to what we would have at home. It is full
of all the colour and aroma of Bangladesh, and gives diners an
opportunity to try a range of dishes."
Voujon
combines its elegance and sophisticated ambiance with a colourful
menu of freshly cooked dishes influenced by Bangladesh and Northern
India. The new year banquet menu includes Chicken Kurma from a recipe
passed down through generations, Shatkora Ghost and the tangy fish
dish Macher Tenga, as well as vegetarian options such as Milawat
Bhaji and Finni, and Roshor Gula for dessert.
