The
Which? Good Food Guide has announced its Restaurant of the Year
award to recognise excellence and good service at restaurants, pubs
and cafés throughout the UK.
The
Guide invites members of the public to nominate their favourite
independently owned establishment in their region - preferably one
that offers regional dishes or uses local produce - by texting GFG
followed by the name and town of the restaurant to 62277 (standard
network charges apply), online at which.co.uk/gfgaward or by sending
in a postcard.
Restaurants
can download the postcard from www.which.co.uk/gfgaward,
and encourage their diners to vote. Nominations are invited from 5
April 2007 until 18 May 2007.
Ten
regional award winners will feature in the 2008 edition of The
Which? Good Food Guide. The Restaurant of the Year will be chosen by
a panel of experts led by Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor of The
Which? Good Food Guide.
The
award - one of several launched by consumer watchdog Which? this
summer - will be presented at the Which? awards ceremony, to be held
on 27 June 2007 at the British Museum and compered by broadcaster
Fiona Bruce.
Elizabeth
Carter, Consultant Editor, The Which? Good Food Guide, says:
"Restaurants
in London get a lot of plaudits, but there are great places to eat
out in every corner of the UK, so we're delighted to launch an award
celebrating the best regional restaurants. The Which? Good Food Guide
has always invited reader feedback, and this award builds on that by
formally recognising the restaurants that the public love to visit."
