writer and broadcaster Mridula Baljekar is helping launch an
exclusive Indian restaurant in North London . The new 70 cover
restaurant Atithi is owned by partners that include one with 25 years
experience in London restaurants and another who is very active in
sport in London .
Mridula has created a menu which
features the unique blend of traditional Indian cuisine with
contemporary influences that have become Mridula's trademark. The
restaurant opened its doors on Thursday, April 24, 2008, and will
serve Indian haute cuisine that encapsulates the tastes of the
different regions of India under the guidance of Chef Tikram who
worked for Mridula in her award-winning Spice Route restaurant.
Tiktam is supported by a team of highly-skilled chefs who have been
flown in from India and trained by Mridula to create her own personal
brand of Indian cuisine.
Mridula explains,
Atithi' is the Hindi word for guest'. In India , we go to
great lengths to welcome our guests, making sure that they take with
them only happy memories of their visit. Rich and poor alike offer
food and drink according to their means with equal warmth and
friendliness. It is for these reasons that Indian hospitality is
renowned all over the world. Mridula's staff have been fully
trained to follow this tradition so that the guests can enjoy the
hospitality offered by this unique restaurant, where every meal will
be an occasion filled with magic, warmth and spices.
