Best Of Broad Street Awards Held In Birmingham

All eyes were on Broad Street last recently as the people who run its pubs, clubs, hotels and bars were honoured at a glitzy ceremony.

The Best of Broad Street Awards - now in their third year and going from strength to strength - were staged at the ICC where more than 300 VIP guests gathered to celebrate the teams behind Birmingham's "Golden Mile".

This year soft drinks giant Coca-Cola stepped in to sponsor the evening which was compered by BRMB DJ Russ Morris.

The 15 awards categories included the Best Overall Venue - voted for by Birmingham Mail readers.

Gary Taylor, chairman of the Broad Street Business Improvement District, welcomed guests, thanked sponsors and congratulated the winners.

"This is the best managed night time economy in the whole of the UK," he said. "There's lots to be happy about - let's keep positive."

Allan Sartori, manager of the Rocket Club and member of the BID committee, thanked behind-the-scenes staff Jo Bolt and Julie Amer, who organised the event.

"This is the third BOBS awards and it's bigger and better than ever," he said. "It's a great opportunity to thanks all the people behind the best entertainment district in the city."
