A huge
Italian restaurant catering for 200 people could be open in Selby by
late July.
Jinnah, which owns four Italian
and Indian restaurants in Yorkshire, will name its flagship new Park
Street eaterie Caesars At The Abbey.
Owner Saleem Akhtar said he had
been looking for a suitable location in the town for some time, and
described the former Salvation Army building, where his new venture
will be situated, as the "perfect location".
He added: "Selby is an
up-and-coming location, and I'm looking forward to launching a
restaurant here. This will be the flagship of the Jinnah chain of eateries.
"Italian food is popular
with the whole family, and I aim to make this restaurant popular with
lots of people."
Caesars will consist of a main
dining area on the ground floor, a stage for live music, a balcony
for functions, an open-plan kitchen and coffee lounge.
Mr Akhtar, who revealed the
restaurant refit will cost a six-figure sum, added: "We've
had restaurants in York since 1990 and many of our chefs, including
some of those coming to Selby, have 35 to 40 years' experience in
kitchens. I believe this restaurant will add something to the
culinary experience in Selby." |
