Mango Tree Celebrates
Thai New Year
With A Celebrity-packed Dinner

London 's Mango Tree was delighted to host a spectacular Thai New Year (‘Song Kran') event recently, which proved to be even more memorable that last year's extravaganza.

Celebrities who were there included British soul sensation Beverly Knight, Eastender's new on-screen couple Lacey Turner and Aaron Sidwell (Stacey Slater and Steven Beale), 80's band Imagination lead singer Leee John, Jimmy Choo, Julian Bennett (Queer Eye), Amy Lamé and Pat Sharp.

Guests indulged in Thai specialities and sumptuous cocktails from the innovative ‘Khan Tok' menu created by Mark Read while being entertained by traditional Thai dancers and performers who put on a dazzling show throughout the evening at the Belgravia hot spot.

Mango Tree took guests on a historical journey; starting at the heart of Siam with a Victory Drum and Lanna procession, the performance then moved to the South with Isaan folklore showcasing a local tradition of bamboo dancing before finishing off with a spectacular show of sword-fighting from the Central Plains. These sights, sounds, and tastes from all regions of Thailand were re-created in tribute to the most recognised festival in the Thai calendar – ‘Song Kran'.

Eddie Lim, owner of Mango Tree and its sister restaurant Awana in Chelsea, was delighted with the huge number of distinguished guests who turned up in aid of Cancer Research UK and commented: “I am thrilled by the support we have received from all our customers, staff, VIPs and sponsors, and would like to thank everyone involved for making this colourful event such a successful one”.

Since opening in 2000, critically acclaimed Mango Tree has gone from strength to strength, picking up awards including Thai Chef of the Year 2003, London-eating restaurant of the year and Thailand 's highest award, Export 2004 for service. Its traditional Thai hospitality and service are second to none
