Consumer Demand For
'Pub Grub' Surges

Pubs and restaurants have been given a welcome boost this week after a study by local search company Thomson Local has shown that despite the current economic downturn, the Great British public are still treating themselves to a meal out.

The year long study looked at searches for local businesses on ThomsonLocal.com related to the food and drinks industry, and showed a huge 681% increase in searches for establishments serving 'pub food'.

Chinese restaurants came second with an increase of 380% followed by Indian restaurants on 281%. Wine bars took the honours in the drinks industry with a 287% increase in searches.

Gary Brown, Product and Marketing Director, Thomson Local said: "Even in the current climate consumer demand for dining out is still strong and these results are a real boost for the thousands of local pubs and restaurants across the country."
