Italian Show Enjoys Success

The second La Dolce Vita held in March at London's Olympia proved to be a great success adding a certain style to the usual excitement of London food and drink shows.

The very unusual show design allowed visitors to wander the rows of exhibitors as if they were alleyways off the main piazza of an Italian town. En route you passed through the central plaza where you could enjoy food from current BIBA Italian Restaurant of the Year Sardo, Sartoria, Refettorio, Fiore, Latium or Zilli Fish and peer into a couple of Alfa Romeos wishing you could afford them.

In the Cucina Chef Gennaro Contaldo, owner of Passione and mentor of Jamie Oliver, charmed visitors with an impromptu cooking lesson whilst on the other side of the show experts sipped, sniffed and spat in the Merano Wine Festival.

The highlight, however, was the many specialist stands selling wonderful cheeses, olives, pasta, tomatoes, olive oils and every kind of wonderful Italian produce. The purpose of the event was obviously to celebrate all things Italian from clothing and cars to wine and food, and the organizers managed to produce an event that did credit to their home country and presented an exciting, must-visit event.
