Regional Speciality & Fine Food Fairs Make A Welcome Return

The annual regional Speciality and Fine Food Fairs will be making a welcome return to Scotland and the North of England later this year and will once again host the regional judging heats of the famous Great Taste Awards.

This year the Edinburgh Fair moves to a city centre location at the Corn Exchange and will take place on 14th and 15th May. The new location is right in the heart of Edinburgh, with free parking and easy access to the rail network. The highly successful Northern show will once again be held at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate on 18th and 19th June.

The Scottish and Northern shows are the regional versions of the London Speciality & Fine Food Fair and provide a showcase of the very best epicurean products to retailers, delicatessen owners, restaurateurs and hoteliers. Renowned as the place to source the very finest food and drink from around the world, the shows are must-visit events, with each Fair expected to feature more than 100 small speciality food and drink producers, many of whom have never previously exhibited.

More than 60 companies have already signed to exhibit at Edinburgh, including 29 brand new companies, including Thorncroft, Bottle Green Drinks, Bramley & Gage, Boaters Coffee and Wensleydale Foods, amongst others.

New exhibitor The Wooden Spoon Preserving Company from Kent, will be showing its award winning range of premium jams and marmalades and launching a new range of handmade bottled fruits and liqueurs to compliment its existing range, all of which are ideal for hampers and the gift trade.

Another first time exhibitor, Foods of Distinction will be launching a new range of premium quality cheesecakes and a 'Pure and Natural' Carrot Cake, all of which are free from additives and preservatives.

In Harrogate, the 93 companies currently booked include regional food groups from North West Fine Foods and Northumbria Larder along with new exhibitors such as Culinary Herbs, The Walnut Tree, Mediterranean Pantry, White Rose Preserves, Glebe Farm Organic Bread Mixes and Cheese & Co.

New exhibitor, Burtree House Farm will be showing its delicious range of puddings, including its Great Taste Award 'Supreme Champion' winning Sticky Toffee Pudding, alongside other mouth watering desserts such as Rich Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch and Pecan Sauce and Chocolate Pudding with Chocolate Sauce, all made using the finest local ingredients.

Suppliers of quality food processing equipment and packaging materials for smaller food processing companies, Liberty Process is another brand new exhibitor.

As well as the hundreds of speciality products displayed by exhibitors, the regional Speciality & Fine Food Fairs will also host the regional judging of the Great Taste Awards. Recognised as the 'Oscars' of the fine food world, these awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers, are the largest of their kind in the world and recognise the very best quality food and drink. Throughout the shows, visitors will be able to witness the rigorous judging process of some of the world's finest gourmet produce.

The Edinburgh and Harrogate events run ahead of the national Speciality & Fine Food Fair at Olympia in London from 3-5 September. According to Bob Farrand, National Director of the Guild of Fine Food Retailers and organiser of the regional Speciality & Fine Food Fairs: "These shows offer the perfect platform for retailers and caterers to source the very best in fine food at a location that is convenient to them, in one single day. No where else will you find this amount of specialist food and drink manufacturers from across the UK under one roof."
