Award-winning
restaurant Roti will triple in size at a new location on Morrison
Street, just off Edinburgh city centre's Lothian Road from Saturday
28th July.
Independently
owned by award-winning chef Tony Singh, Roti is the sister restaurant
of the highly acclaimed Oloroso. The outstanding 4,000 square-foot
premises will house the new, 100-cover restaurant and 40-person
capacity wine bar, thus tripling the size of Roti from its existing
40 covers.
Currently
tucked away in Rose Street North Lane, Roti has, since it opened to
critical acclaim almost two years ago, built up a solid reputation
for setting precedence in Indian cuisine. Serving the best Scottish
meat, game and fish produce, freshly prepared using innovative Indian
recipes and contemporary presentation, Roti sets itself apart from
any other Indian menu offering in the city.
The new Roti
will also introduce the casual eating 'tiffin' concept to Edinburgh,
in addition to an a la carte restaurant. These tapas-style tasting
menus will have the same ethos of quality-led ingredients with a
home-cooked style using secret family recipes, but will be packaged
in contemporary tiffin boxes, adding a twist to the traditional
tiffin boxes that are used all over India.
Existing Roti
Head Chef Anand Sehgal will run the kitchen and will be joined by
Oloroso's sous chef, Peter Duck, with founder and chef-patron Tony
Singh at the helm, ensuring the quality that has awarded Roti with
The List magazine's Best Newcomer Award as well earning it a spot on
Olive magazine's Top 10 UK restaurants, remains.
"The
relocation and expansion of Roti is a landmark in our business growth strategy,'
commented Tony. "The existing site was perfect when Roti was
born, but now it has established itself as one of Edinburgh's finest
restaurants, it's time to move onwards and upwards. Whilst Roti
currently offers a quiet, oasis-like location, in order for us to
meet the consistently high demand, we're relocating to a more
prominent, visible location.
"The
existing, much-acclaimed a la carte menu will remain, but will be
enhanced with the addition of tiffin and gourmet tasting menus."
Roti opened at
73 Morrison Street on the 28th July. Bookings will be taken for the
new location through 0131 221 9998.
