Simon
Rimmer, Singing Waiters and Bollywood dancers at Bolton's third
Food and Drink
Festival
29
- 31 August 2008
Food lovers can expect a
smorgasbord of delights as Bolton gears up to host its biggest and
best annual Food and Drink Festival.
Previously held in October as
part of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, the organisers have
brought this year's culinary treat forward to the end of August.
The three-day event celebrates
the town's tastiest local treats and visitors will have the chance to
sample Bolton's best produce.
Foodies can rub shoulders with TV
chef Simon Rimmer, who will be officially launching the Festival on
Friday, August 29. The celebrity chef who owns Greens restaurant in
Didsbury and Earle, in Hale, will be cooking up a storm in a special
mobile demonstration kitchen on Victoria Square on Friday.
Singing waiters will entertain
visitors and local cafes and restaurants will be serving up delicious
tasters to add to the street festival atmosphere.
Bolton will go Bollywood on
Saturday, August 30. Lovers of Asian food are invited to Victoria
Square to join in a celebration of the town's rich cultural
diversity. Bollywood dancers and bhangra beats will provide the
colourful backdrop when local Indian chefs cook up a fiery feast.
Henna painters and stalls with sparkling saris and stunning salwar
kameezes will add further Asian spiced flavour to the day.
Italian and Portuguese chefs will
also be doing demos in the mobile kitchen and the Shifting Sands
Theatre with their 'French waiters' will add some 'ooh-la-la' to the event.
Feast on the finest fayre, from
fresh vegetables to succulent meats, at a special Farmers' Market on
Sunday, August 31. Stroll through stalls heaving with fresh produce
and buy directly from the North West's finest food producers and farmers.
Whether you are a traditional
food fan, a gourmet or an Indian food fan, let Bolton tickle your tastebuds.
