Cooking with my Indian mother-in-law
by Simon Daley with Roshan Hirani
published by Anova Books(Pavilion)
£20.00 hardback. ISBN (10): 1862057990

The 'love affair' with Indian food started for self-taught home cook Simon Daley the first time he tasted his future mother-in-law's chicken curry. The result, apart from marrying Roshan's daughter that is, was a book of recipes from the family's Gujerati rootes to modern day adaptation in UK.

The beautifully illustrated book sets out on its journey by explaining the basics, much like most Indian cookery books. The section on breads is particularly interesting which is unsurprising as Roshan's chapattis are said to be legendary.

The book is nothing new to collectors of good Indian cookery books but excellent in its own right. "A wonderful collaboration - a faithful record of the instinctive cooking that goes on in a typical Indian household" Vivek Singh, Executive Chef at The Cinnamon Club, London.
