Fine Italian Tableware Exclusively From
John Artis

John Artis, a leading supplier of tabletop products to the foodservice industry, is the sole UK distributor in this market of premium quality porcelain tableware from respected Italian manufacturer, Tognana.

Tognana, which has its factory in Casier, northern Italy, is well known for manufacturing top end porcelain at an affordable price, which makes it a popular choice amongst UK restaurateurs. Its tableware ranges are further characterised by the inventiveness of their dish shapes and patterns.

Tognana was founded in 1775 as an industrial brick factory and moved into tableware in 1946. Today, it is the largest Italian manufacturer of porcelain for both domestic retail and foodservice markets, a position it has gained largely as a result of its willingness to invest in new technology.

All Tognana porcelain is fired at high temperatures, giving excellent resistance to scratching and abrasion. Dish feet are polished to avoid scratching and the rims are glazed for maximum durability and stain prevention.

John Artis' 2008 catalogue features the following four stunning ranges from Tognana:

NERO (pictured, left)

As the name suggests, Nero is finished with a very distinctive and highly polished black glaze. Pieces may be used on their own to create a dramatic effect or matched with white tableware for an eye-catching contrast. Nero is available in three different plate sizes with a soup plate, tea and espresso cups and saucers.

GRAFFITI

This range is characterised by an original relief of thin concentric lines running around the rim of the dish in stark contrast to the smooth central area. Although fully glazed to avoid staining, Graffiti takes on a matt appearance, giving the range a very distinctive look. It is available in round, oval, coupe and well plates, accompanied by small and medium sized cups and saucers.

OMNI

This is a collection of unusual and contemporary pieces designed to enhance food presentation with creativity and flair. The 18 different pieces include slanting oval bowls, tear bowls, rhombus plates and a triangular bowl.

ENIGMA

Enigma is made from Alutec porcelain which gives it exceptional whiteness as well as excellent resistance to shock, chipping and abrasion. Again Italian flair is displayed in the shapes in the collection, which include an inoval plate, tidbit bowl and the half moon plate designed to pair with the oval plate forming an eye catching table presentation.

All Tognana lines are illustrated in full colour in the John Artis 2008 catalogue, which is available to order online at www.johnartis.co.uk. Alternatively, a copy may be requested by telephoning John Artis direct on 0208 391 5544.
