Oyster Sauce
is one of the most popular sauces in any Chinese kitchen, used by
generations of Cantonese chefs and in homes throughout the world to
create great tasting Chinese food. A quality Oyster Sauce is rich in
oyster extract, adding flavour and enhancing the appearance of food.
Traditionally used as a marinade, a general seasoning ingredient in
stir-fries and general cooking, or even as a side-of-plate condiment
or dip, the versatility of Oyster Sauce is just one of the reasons
for it's vast use in Chinese cuisine.
Mr Lee
established the Lee Kum Kee company in 1888 to produce and sell his
creation, a sauce which he discovered completely by accident after
one day inexplicably leaving a pot of oysters cooking for too long,
which resulted in a thick brownish sauce. The sauce's rich aroma and
strong oyster flavour proved so popular with the restaurant's
customers that requests poured in for this new creation.
Already a
leading brand used in Chinese kitchens throughout the world, UK
households can now discover the original Lee Kum Kee Oyster Flavoured
Sauce for themselves with its launch into Waitrose stores across the
country. It will be difficult to miss the bottle with its beautifully
designed label which shows a traditionally crafted piece of Chinese
artwork specially commissioned by Lee Kum Kee.
