On the
21st of July, an audience of 200 guests gathered at top Thai
restaurant, Mango Tree in London for an exclusive performance by the
UK's Queen of Soul, Beverley Knight, in support of the Terrence
Higgins Trust and Cancer Research UK. In total £37,691 was
raised by the star-studded fundraiser through ticket sales, donations
and an auction consisting of items like Jimmy Choo couture shoes and
a 5 star package holiday to Thailand.
The evening
started with a cocktail reception, and during the 3 course menu
exclusively created by Executive Chef Mark Read, diners were
entertained by Sugar Free dancers (students from Len Goodman's Dance
School) and an alternative Moulin Rouge act performed by Ladyboys!
The auction
kicked off and all 13 items were successfully sold within half an
hour, with the pair of Jimmy Choo couture shoes reaching a record
price of £5600!
Finally, the
act everyone was there to see - a medley of songs sung live by
Beverley Knight herself. She wowed the crowd with her voice, earned
her crown as one of UK's best singers, and got the entire audience
dancing throughout her performance!
The event was
