One of
Yorkshire's highest profile Indian restaurant chains is due to open
in Birmingham on September 24 this year.
Located on Hagley Road in the
suburb of Edgbaston, the new Akbars restaurant will seat 300 people,
serve award-winning Asian cuisine and will have a private function
suite that can cater for up to 200 guests.
Established in 1995 in Bradford,
Akbars currently has restaurants throughout the North of England
including Leeds, Manchester, York, Sheffield and Middlesbrough. The
restaurant chain was named Business of the Year for the second year
in succession at the 2009 Asian Business Development Network Awards. |
Akbar's managing director Shabir
Hussain was advised on the new Birmingham venue by Yorkshire law firm
Gordons. Commercial property solicitor Simon Mydlowski and regulatory
solicitor Satpal Roth provided counsel on the restaurant's lease and
licensing agreements respectively.
Shabir Hussain said: "We
have worked with Simon and the team at Gordons for the last five
years and they have played an important advisory role in our
continued growth. We always receive a prompt, pragmatic service that
provides clear guidance and enables us to achieve our business objectives.
"Our expansion into
Birmingham is an exciting one. It already has an excellent reputation
for Asian cuisine so we are looking forward to offering our
particular style of food and service within such a vibrant city
restaurant scene."
It is also anticipated that
Akbars will open a 300 seat restaurant in Newcastle city centre in
January 2010 and Gordons is also currently assisting the restaurant
in securing the lease.
Simon Mydlowski commented: "The
continued expansion of Akbars is testimony to the vision and
dedication of Shabir and his team. They seek to deliver excellence in
everything that they do and this single-minded focus has meant they
have continued to expand at pace whilst ensuring the continued
stability of the business.
