Grand Opening of Shaka Zulu, Camden

 

 

London's largest South African restaurant opened its wooden carved doors on August 4th 2010 with a special royal blessing from the Zulu King

As South African fever continues to grip the nation this summer, Shaka Zulu restaurant has opened its carved wooden doors to London's cosmopolitan scene. This breathtaking two-storied venue located in the heart of Stables Market Camden, showcases the best in African cuisine. With a Cape Town inspired fish bar and cocktail lounges overlooking an incredible ornate wood carved dining theatre, Shaka Zulu is set to be the ultimate destination in the Capital.

The main restaurant presents The Shaka Zuku Theatre of Food - diverse cuisine from all parts of South Africa and beyond. The internationally renowned Head Chef, Barry Vera has carefully selected a traditional menu in order to showcase the originality and flair of South African culture . To reflect this, Barry has created a unique menu with dishes ranging from

Seared Ostrich, Kudu, Marinated Springbok and the Shaka Zulu signature dish 'KarooLamb'. All of this traditional African food will be cooked using open flame grills in a world class kitchen.

Launched on August 4th August 2010, Shaka Zulu received official blessing from HRH Goodwill Zwelithini, as he made a special trip to the UK in honor of this momentous occasion. Combined with his royal presence and a host of supporting celebrities, Shaka Zulu is set to raise London's cosmopolitan standards by combining an authentic African dining experience with contemporary panache and charm. In order to provide guests with a truly sensory experience, a number of intimate celebrity hosted evenings have been scheduled especially to showcase Shaka Zulu's versatile space.

The scale of Shaka Zulu is in keeping with the heritage of the great African King. In the main restaurant, a number of wooden carved murals cover every inch of Shaka Zulu's walls and ceiling. This is beautifully complimented by an impressive water garden feature, complete with delicate gold-painted tiles and a Swarovski crystal leopard centerpiece.

Stretching beyond the realms of traditional dining, the warrior inspired Zulu Lounge offers guests with the opportunity to sit down, relax and absorb the authentic atmosphere. Shaka Zulu is proud to boast the UK's largest South African wine list featuring over 98 wines, Exclusive to Shaka Zulu is also the private members area, The King's Club. Located in an intimate area on the lower floor, The Kings Club ensures diners will experience the best view of the restaurant, which provides a perfect backdrop for entertaining guests.
