Christmas Cheer For Tameside's Homeless

'Ho Ho Ho!' was replaced with a resounding 'Hot Hot Hot' at the Gibson Terrace hostel this week, as Tameside eatery 'The Pearl Restaurant Bar & Lounge' donated a spicy Christmas feast to the homeless.

Sprouts and chipolatas were nowhere to be seen as the restaurant served up a selection of festive treats including chicken tikka masala and lamb lawabdar.

Restaurant owner Naheem Akhtar and Head Chef Sayed Ahmed, prepared and served the meal to over twenty Gibson Terrace residents as part of a drive to look after the local Tameside Community.

Naheem said: "Looking after the local community is part of the restaurants ethos. The residents of this hostel will not be receiving much this Christmas, so we thought we'd bring them a little festive cheer."

New Charter's Director of Tenancy Services, Tony Powell said: "For many people in difficult circumstances, Christmas can be a particularly lonely time. Our staff always try to make the holiday period as dignified as possible for all residents. Children are often the focus, but the generosity of The Pearl restaurant reminds adults of the true meaning of Christmas: goodwill to all men. I am delighted to acknowledge Mr Akhtar's thoughtful gesture, from one local successful business to another".
