Turkey
And Lumpy Gravy On The Way Out This Christmas As Brits Gobble Up Far
Eastern Grub

New research out from Tiger
Beer reveals the traditional British Christmas dinner of turkey,
lumpy gravy and cold sprouts could go the way of the dodo given that
more Brits than ever before are turning to the exciting, exotic
flavours of the Far East.
1 in 5 Brits surveyed by Tiger
Beer revealed that they would prefer to eat Far Eastern food over any
other type of world cuisine if Turkey wasn't on the menu this
Christmas. The age range of people most likely to opt for the tastes
of the Far East is 25-34 year olds who stated they wanted something
flavoursome, aromatic and spicy rather than traditional and greasy.
Not surprisingly, older Brits proved the most determined to eat
British food as 67% of pensioners (65+) maintained they would eat
British even if turkey was off the menu.
Regionally the Welsh proved the
most traditional with 64% preferring to eat British food even in the
absence of turkey, but the Scots were the most adventurous with just
41% opting for British food and 24% keen to have Far Eastern food for
their Christmas dinner.
Gemma Adams at Tiger beer said, "These
results come as no surprise as more Brits are travelling to Asia
than ever before experiencing Far Eastern foods and culture first
hand. When they get home they want to relive their experiences and
recreate the tastes of the Far East in their own dining room and this
is reflected in our survey results. What better way to enjoy Asian
food than with a cold, refreshing Tiger Beer!!"
An easy way of introducing Asian
inspired food this Christmas is with quick and easy finger food.
Don't go for your average sausage rolls and cheese on a stick though,
add a bit of spice to your party by serving Tiger Beer battered
prawns instead, available at Sainsbury's now. Easy to prepare for the
host and delicious to eat for the guests.
And don't stop with just Tiger
Beer battered prawns, there's lots of other Far Eastern finger foods
to choose from. Here are some of the most popular choices:
1. Tiger Beer battered Prawns
2. Vegetable Spring Rolls
3. Chicken Satay Sticks
4. Prawn wontons
5. Chinese spare ribs
