2009 is
the Year of the Ox and, fittingly for restaurants; the ox represents
prosperity through hard work. While running a restaurant is hard work
all year round, Chinese New Year itself is a particularly busy period
as it offers restaurateurs and caterers the opportunity to promote
traditional Chinese recipes and encourage customers in to try new tastes.
With good quality rice being the
staple requirement of many Chinese menus, demand for rice dishes will
be at a premium during this time. The simplest and most reliable way
to cook up rice in large quantities is to use a rice cooker. Apuro, a
distributor for some of the biggest brands in the UK hospitality
market, has added a jumbo capacity 6.3 litre model to its range of
commercial rice cookers, to keep up with those big Ox appetites.
The rice cookers are extremely
simple to operate giving perfect results at the flick of a switch -
just measure the rice and add water. A one-touch cook and hold
facility ensures that the rice remains at a safe temperature once it
is cooked. There's no need to stir or to strain the rice, the cooker
is fully automatic and the new large 6.3 litre rice cooker can
produce 35 portions of rice in only 12 minutes.
A bottom and side heating system
ensures the rice is cooked evenly throughout the bowl which is also
removable and non-stick for easy cleaning. A handy spatula and
measure are supplied as standard with the cookers.
The two smaller 1300 Watt, 4.2
litre models are still available in either stainless steel or black
enamel, alongside the new 1500 Watt, black enamel 6.3 litre model.
All have a full one-year parts and labour warranty.
