"Fab Foodie Film"
To Come Out In January

A fab foodie film - Bollywood/Chinese flick by Warners Bros. Pictures - is coming out on the 16th January. The film has a major food element where the main protagonist, Akshay Kumar who's also India's biggest Bollywood star, plays the role of a small time chef from Chandni Chowk (moonlight village) in Delhi who's mistaken for the reincarnation of an ancient Chinese warrior. The film also stars Gordon Liu (Kill Bill) Roger Yuan (Lethal Weapon 4, Bulletproof Monk) and the Stunt Director in the film is Dee Dee Ku (Crouching Tiger, Romeo Must Die, Kill Bill, The Matrix, Forbidden Kingdom).

The film is also a semi-biopic film portraying Akshay's life story - he was born and brought up in Chandni Chowk, Delhi and in pursuit of his dream to become a martial arts expert travelled to Bangkok to train, where he worked as chef to earn a living.

Akshay has a global fan base of 3.6 billion people; he is the most sought after actor as he commands strong box office openings.

In 2008, Akshay's movie Singh is Kinng launched his home production banner Hari Om Productions and raked in 18 crore in the first 2 days, smashing previous records set in the past 10 years in India, UK, USA and the Middle East. He's the brand ambassador for Levi's, Coca Cola, X Box and recently collaborated with Snoop Dogg for Singh in Kinng's music video

Akshay is starring alongside Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh for his film Kambakht Ishq releasing later in 2009

Akshay has dual citizenship in Canada and earlier this year he was awarded an honorary doctorate.

2007 saw all four of Akshay's films become international box office successes, with a billing of over 500 crore rupees profit in India and the overseas box office.

According to the UK Film Council 2007 Yearbook, out of the top 13 highest grossing Indian films released in the UK and Ireland which generated £9.7 million at the box office, four featured Akshay as a lead protagonist and grossed a mammoth of £4.5 million.

In December 2007, his film Welcome was the biggest Bollywood Christmas release grossing $ 4.5 million in its first two weeks.
