Shah
Athar of Café Rasoi in Sussex is back from his Mt Kilimanjaro
trip, relatively in one piece.
He reports "It was great
fun but very hard work with not the best of weather conditions. Even
the experienced trekkers/climbers that we encountered found the going
very tough. One of my team even had to be carried down half way after
we exhausted ourselves climbing and reaching the summit. I myself
should not have climbed on summit day as I was suffering from a very
high temperature and very bad cold, but me being my usual stubborn
self, decided having come this far, although exhausted, I would risk
going up. Indeed, I managed to reach the summit on sheer will power
alone for which I am even proud of myself for". |
Speaking to the guides and some
of the officials afterwards, Shah also believes that he may in fact
be the first ever Bangladeshi to have climbed and reached the summit
of Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895M), which in itself is another achievement.
No time to rest, hoever, as he
opened his fourth venture, 'Flamin' Joe's' recently and his fifth,
'Mr India' sometime in the New Year.
