Red
Devils honoured with special menu at their favourite Indian restaurant
An award-winning restaurant owner
says that his healthy fish curries have helped Manchester United
become the most famous football club in the world.
And to celebrate his 18 years of
success, Sir Anam Islam is paying tribute to the current crop of
stars with a menu made in their honour.
"Manchester United
players have been coming to Taste Of Raj since we first opened in 1990,"
says Sir Anam. "I like to think that our healthy dishes have
added some fire to the players' bellies and helped them win trophies."
Based in Congleton, Cheshire, the
restaurant has been rebranded as Ignite - The Authentic Taste Of Raj,
and boasts a who's who of British football as regulars down the years.
"David Beckham, Cristiano
Ronaldo, Sir Alex Ferguson, Mark Hughes, Roy Keane - they have all
enjoyed our tasty cuisine," says Sir Anam. "These
stars could eat anywhere but come to us for the quality of our food
and knowing that it is a healthy option."
Ignite - The Authentic Taste Of
Raj's chefs are some of the best in the business with a wealth of
experience cooking authentic Indian and Bangladeshi food. The most
popular dish is simply called Tasty Fish, and is cooked over charcoal
with more than 35 spices. Cholesterol free vegetable oil is used
instead of the traditional ghee and all meats are organically grown
on local farms.
"Curry is often portrayed
as being unhealthy, but not in my restaurant," says Sir
Anam. "You can enjoy the nation's favourite food at Ignite
without feeling guilty, and you might even recognise a few famous faces."
