Curry Week Wine

With National Curry Week taking place in November, the experts at Molly Browns Wine List presented Seifried's Gewurtztraminer, as the perfect wine to compliment Britain's 'favourite' dish.

Curry is always a tricky dish to match with wine; all the different spices and flavours send the palette in to overdrive, which is probably why many of us take the simple option and go for beer. As a general rule, wines with a touch of sweetness and lots of aromas work best with spicy cuisine, as they manage to cut through the multitude of flavours.

The Gewurtztraminer, with its aromatic hints of lychees, apricots and ginger, will more than hold its own when paired with some of the most popular dishes. Tangy coconut and fruit based recipes will work particularly well, such as a Korma or Mixed Vegetable curry.

The Seifried Estate is a multi-award winning family run winery, from the Nelson region of New Zealand, and has been producing stylish, food-friendly wines since 1976.

Seifried Gewurtztraminer is available for £9.99 at www.mollybrownswinelist.com

Molly Brown's Wine List specialise in exclusive and boutique wines that you won't necessarily find on the shelves of the supermarket.
