Ravinder Bhogal, the food writer and stylist who was propelled into
the limelight after being crowned Britain's New Fanny Cradock by
Gordon Ramsay on The F Word, has just added another gong to her mantelpiece.
Her sensational debut book, Cook in Boots, has just won the
prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Award for the UK's Best First
Cookbook. Ravinder will now travel across the English Channel in
February to challenge for Gourmand's title of the World's Best First
Cookbook at the Paris Cookbook Fair on 11 February, 2010.
Edouard Cointreau, President of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards,
has given high praise to Ravinder and her book: "The book is
outstanding for the bright personality and high character of the
author which shine throughout the book," he said.
Ravinder said: "I am so delighted to have won this award as I am
fully aware of how many excellent debut cookbooks were published this
year. I am now honoured to attend the Cookbook Fair in Paris next
year and just thrilled to compete for the title of the world's best."
The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard
Cointreau and an estimated 26,000 books from 136 countries
participate in the competition. The awards have been coined the
'Cookbook Olympics' or the 'Nobel prize for cookery writers'.
Cook in Boots, released this year by Harper Collins, combines style
and food in a never-seen-before format and features over 160
delectable recipes to cater for the mood and lifestyle of today's
modern girl.
Ravinder lives in South East London. Her second book is due for
release next year. |
