Customers at three time winner of a British Curry Award, Brilliant in
Southall, were thrilled to have their dining experience made rather
special when Sir Cliff Richard and friends arrived unexpectedly.
Owner Gulu Anand said the singing star was relaxed and friendly,
taking the attentions of the excited diners in his stride and
declaring the butter chicken "absolutely brilliant!".
Gulu and daughter Dipna declare themselves to be driven by their
string of awards rather than being complacent and are already
planning new menus, a refurbishment of the upstairs area and more.
The large area on the first floor of the restaurant has proved
perfect for many meetings and functions in the past and was the
perfect setting for the second Johnnie Walker Journey evening to be
held at the popular restaurant.
Guests from a wide variety of professions enjoyed being taken through
the history of Johnnie Walker by Brand Ambassador Mandeep Grewal who
laughingly commented that Gujurat - supposedly a dry state - had
overtaken Black Label loving Punjab as top consumer in India.
Despite having sat through this presentation two years previously, I
once again found it fascinating to experience some of the
constituents of this global brand and levels of complexity that can
be enjoyed with its consumption. It has been suggested that a measure
of Johnnie Walker accompanied by a glass of iced water is the perfect
accompaniment to a good curry and on this experience I wouldn't argue.
If anyone winders how Brilliant have won their British Curry Award
three years on the trot I suggest a quick visit to experience the
food, the service and the shere passion of the Anand family and their staff. |
