The
lion, the spring roll and the auctioneer! |
Over 170
guests joined Frankie Tsang and his Four Seasons staff to celebrate
the opening of the eagerly awaited NEW Four Seasons Restaurant at
Powick last Thursday.
The evening
started with a colourful ceremonial Lion Dance performed by Hinckley
Choi Lee Fut Martial Arts Group and traditional Chinese blessing. The
Mayor of Worcester, Aubrey Tarbuck, then cut the ribbon into the
restaurant officially opening the Malvern Road venue.
Proprietor,
Frankie Tsang, who owns several other Chinese restaurants and
takeaway outlets in Worcestershire, then spoke of his past dream to
one day own this very restaurant and today, 20 years later he was
delighted to declare that his dream had now come true.
During the
evening guests were invited to sample various Thai and Cantonese
culinary delights and were given a spectacular cookery demonstration
courtesy of Ken Ho, a Master Chef and look-like to the legendary
Chinese chef, Ken Hom.
To conclude
the evening, guests were asked to place cash donations into their
personalised envelopes, which were then collected and entered into a
prize draw. Winning envelopes were hand-picked by Phillip Serrell,
local TV personality and renowned auctioneer, who presented a number
of kindly donated prizes including; tickets to see Noel Coward's
comedy 'Private Lives' at Malvern Theatres, a signed Worcester
Warriors rugby ball, a limited edition MINI Cooper scalextric,
courtesy of Robert Stern BMW, lunch at New Road to watch Worcester
County Cricket Club, and a full car valet worth £100 at H A Fox
the prestige car garage in the city centre.
Over a
thousand pounds was raised from the prize draw and loose-change
donations, which went to Leukaemia CARE, a national charity, based in
Worcester, which is committed to providing care and support to
everybody whose lives have been affected by leukaemia, lymphoma or an
allied blood disorder.
Further
celebrations are planned for the end of the month, when the Chinese
mark their New Year in glorious fashion. For further details on these
gala evenings or for general reservations please call The NEW Four
Seasons on 01905 830238.
