Six

-
And
All Outside London |
Six
restaurants have just been awarded four AA Rosettes, which puts them
into the top restaurants in the entire UK Restaurant scene. These are
exciting times - all these fine chefs may not be household names or
TV celebrities or based in London, but they are superb cooks showing
great passion and dedication.
The
restaurants winning four AA Rosettes are:
Devonshire
Arms, Bolton Abbey (chef Michael Wignall)
Fischers,
Baslow (chef, Max Fischer)
Midsummer
House, Cambridge (chef Daniel Clifford)
Paris,
Birmingham (chef Patrick McDonald),
Restaurant
Michael Deane, Belfast (chef Michael Deane)
Restaurant Sat
Bains, Nottingham (chef Sat Bains)
There are now
25 restaurants which hold four AA Rosettes across the UK and Ireland:
20 in England (6 in Central London), two in Scotland, one in the
Republic of Ireland, one in Wales; and one in Northern Ireland. These
25 now join the five with 5 AA Rosettes to make up the top
restaurants.
Peter Birnie,
AA Chief Hotel & Restaurant Inspector says: "We are
announcing new AA four rosettes eight months before the next edition
of the AA Restaurant Guide, because our recent inspections have
confirmed that these restaurants are ready now for this recognition.
"Over the
last year these restaurants have shown continued improvement, superb
consistent cuisine, and both innovation and classic skills. There is
real individual cooking and hands-on chefs in all these
kitchens."
Eight
restaurants have also been awarded three AA Rosettes:
La Trompette,
Chiswick (chef James Bennington)
Maze, London
(chef Jason Atherton)
Morgan M,
London (chef Morgan Meunier)
The Ledbury,
London (chef Brett Anderson)
The Orchid,
Torquay (chefs Daniel Kay/Marc Evans)
The Nuremore,
Carrickmacross, Ireland (chef Raymond McArdle)
The new
details will appear on the AA's website and will be included in the
next edition of the AA Restaurant Guide, published in September 2006.
The current guide is available to buy from high street bookshops and
from www.theAA.com/bookshop
priced at £16.99.
