Food from
Britain (FFB) will be raising awareness of its services amongst the
industry, as well as promoting quality British regional food and
drink to both UK and international buyers through its presence at
IFE07 from 18- 21 March at ExCel in London (stand no NH 1755).
FFB will host
a business lounge for overseas buyers looking to source food from
Britain at IFE07, and has worked with the English Regional Food
Groups to ensure maximum presence of quality food and drink producers
at the exhibition.
Some 150
producers will be featured in the speciality and regional food from
Britain sector, as well as producers in the general foods sector and
national pavilions from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Producers from Tastes of Anglia, South East Food Group Partnership,
Heart of England Fine Foods, South West Food and Drink, Deliciously
Yorkshire, Northumbria Larder, North West Fine Foods and East
Midlands Fine Foods will ensure that the very best of British food
and drink is on show.
For the first
time, FFB will be working with Sainsbury's to host a British supplier
scout scheme called 'Supply Something New'. Small producers, who feel
they can offer a point of difference, will be able to present their
products to a panel of Sainsbury's personnel. After presenting their
products, producers will be given feedback almost immediately and
could potentially generate new listings.
FFB will also
be hosting a series of seminars on its stand, including snapshots of
latest developments in a number of leading export markets and
opportunities in categories such as Alternative Retail and Ethnic Foods.
Working with
UK Trade & Investment, FFB has invited some 20 buyers to IFE from
Canada, China, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan,
Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to visiting the
show, a Meet the Buyer event will be staged, matching UK suppliers
with appropriate overseas buyers. Producers will also be able to
network with the buyers at an all-British trade dinner on Sunday 18 March.
David McNair,
Chief Executive at Food from Britain, said: "Our international
buyers lounge at this year's top UK show will provide the catalyst
for business generation and is part of our role to ensure that
British exhibitors maximise their business opportunities. This year,
FFB is forecasting the highest level of food and drink exports ever
and through our presence at IFE 07 we aim to meet the increasing
demands from international buyers looking to the UK for its
innovation, added value and convenience retailing expertise."
