Parcels and
packages will be mixing with poppadums and chutneys
in Barnoldswick's new Post Office.
The town's
current Fernlea Avenue branch is re-opening with an integrated Indian
takeaway and restaurant in a purpose-built building.
Thought to be
the first of its kind in the country, the branch will be housed in
the former Barnoldswick Cricket Club premises on Frank Street,
allowing customers to call in for their car tax and have a curry in a
single visit.
The idea is
the brainchild of postmaster Enuyat Vali, who believes the move is
necessary to keep the post side of the business viable in difficult times.
Mr Vali is
investing £250,000 of his own money to pay for all-new fixtures
and fittings and says the new building just around the corner is
ideally suited to the dual purpose.
