Odds On Scotland

The odds are on Scotland to win the 15th International Indian Chef of the Year run by entrepreneur, restaurateur and hotelier Tommy Miah.

The event was launched recently at the House of Commons where Alex Salmond M.P. welcomed press and interested parties. He praised Tommy Miah's efforts of the continuing success of the event which has "raised the status of Indian cuisine". Whilst guests enjoyed food from little tiffin boxes provided by past winner Shamim Syed of Durbar, Mr Salmond announced the 6 finalists which include one Japanese competitor.

Five of the finalists come from Scotland and one from Northampton so the odds are on Scotland's side when Chairman of Judges Lord Fraser of Carmyllie QC presides over the final on March 12th in Edinburgh.

Tommy had a dual purpose for being in London, as he was completing meetings about the opening of his new Raj Hotel in Kensington in the hope of emulating the success he has enjoyed in Edinburgh.
