3G Encourages Caterers To Rediscover The Best Of British Fish & Seafood

With the popularity of traditional British food currently very high, 3G Food Service and Seafood Solutions, the specialist distributor of chilled and frozen foods to the food service sector, is encouraging caterers to rediscover some of the delicious fish and seafood available from British shores. The 3G Seafood Solutions range features a wide range of products that are sourced directly from UK ports, offering caterers the freshest fish and seafood available with valuable, sought after British provenance.

The 3G Seafood Solutions range features over 40 different species sourced from 29 different ports throughout the UK. These species include Lobster, Dover Sole, Halibut, Turbot, Tuna, Squid, Mussels, Razor Clams, John Dory, Mackerel, Coley, Gurnard and Salmon.

Phil Coyne, Business Development Manager at 3G Seafood Solutions explains: "As an island, the UK is blessed with a huge variety of popular, versatile fish and seafood species that can be locally and sustainably caught. Developments in aquaculture have also enabled more 'exotic' species such as Red Mullet and Sea Bass to be sustainably farmed in the UK too."

Phil continues: "Whilst there will always be a place on menus for fish sourced from tropical climates, British provenance is becoming a strong requirement from the consumer, with products such as our Cornish Sardines and Scottish Salmon all increasing in popularity due to their traditional, British origin. If a product is described as British at point of purchase, it provides a reassuring statement of quality and can help to communicate 'just caught' freshness, particularly when the regional source name is included on the menu or specials board."

Phil concludes: "We are keen to promote the best of British fish and seafood and the UK fishing industry by sourcing produce from all over the UK. Our aim is to source all of our wild-capture and farmed fish from sustainable and responsibly managed sources, to give our caterers great produce that meets their required price points on menus and specials boards. Our comprehensive fresh and frozen range includes all of the UK's favourite species and a choice of alternative species too."
