It is that
time of year when people all over Britain are nominating their
favourite ethnic restaurant for a 'Best in Britain Award' (BIBA).
Registered by phone, post and the www.menu2menu.com
website, the 2007 BIBA's in June will be the 15th year the awards
have been made.
Ethnic food
fans - particularly curry - tend to be very loyal to and supportive
of their favourite restaurant, even when they no longer live in the country.
Hello,
Just
thought i would write a quick note on an Indian Restaurant i was
introduced not so long ago - Cafe Rasoi in Heathfield in East Sussex.
I am an
Ex-Pat living and working in Australia but come from England and make
sure i get back there as regularly as possible for Business and
Leisure. I love my curries and certainly Australia can learn a thing
or 2 from our Curry brothers in the UK.
Anyway, I
have friends that i visit regularly in Eastbourne, Brighton and
Tunbridge Wells and on a recent trip (July)- they took me to Cafe
Rasoi and I have to say, I was very impressed to find a great, smart,
intelligent and CLEAN indian restaurant in a village run by a young
happy and driven man -
The food
was fantastic - with a numerous new dishes that I had never heard of
but was very interested in seeing what other diners were eating. I
have an old favourite in the Jalfraizi but they had a beautiful dish
in the Exotikka that i decided to go with - my choice of Meat with
subtle blend of spices, juicy mangos with a dash of coconut rum -
very delicious!
The decor
is suited to an upmarket west end bar where the young and beautiful
would parade. In a village like Heathfield - it would be the place to
be. And like many, I judge a place on its bathroom facilities, these
are real smart and ... colourful. This place is a real gem
considering all of the crappy dives you find in nearby cities of
Brighton and Eastbourne - this place is well worth the Drive.
Shah, the
owner was very pleasant and very happy to talk to us about his plans
and ambitions. For a young chap like him to open a great Restaurant
and actually run it, work the floor and make sure you are welcome and
happy- he is definitely going to go places and be a huge success. We
could certainly do with someone of his flair and creativity in Australia.
Needless to
say, I will definitley be returning, hopefully with a bigger
entourage. I know about the BIBA awards and young budding
entrepreneurs deserve recognition, especially when they are doing so
well in random places like Heathfield. 5 Stars from me - WELL DONE
Zubyer
