She then moved
to London where she also got a diploma in Journalism. Meanwhile her
training in Indian dance developed and, along with everything else,
she also became a professional performer.
She set up her
first home in England when she was 22. She tried out countless
recipes in order to replicate what had come out of her mother's
kitchen in Bombay. She tried new methods, ingredients and
combinations until she taught herself a style that she was
comfortable with. Although she was a qualified chef, she needed to
find a way to pare down the fuss and bother of traditional Indian cooking.
Now she is set
to to pass it all on with 'Cooking with Monisha'. All the classes
promise to be fun and make Indian cookery accessible. There is an
emphasis on home cooking rather than on recreating restaurant dishes
and each class with focus on healthy, seasonal ingredients.
To complement
the classes, there are food walks in Southall, West London, to
familiarise people with Indian ingredients- a shopping and tasting
experience that lasts 2 hours.
Monisha also
does bespoke classes for groups of people who are too far from London
and she is able to go to them.
