WINE+ Announces Strong Line Up Of Industry Speakers

Wine+ has cemented its reputation as one of the trade's most important events with the announcement of leading industry figures who will present in the popular Live Theatre and Business Clinic.

A number of the world's wine luminaries will be hosting tasting events during the two day show. Writer, broadcaster and lecturer, John Radford, will be introducing some of Chile's most exciting and innovative wines whilst Gaia Gaja will be presenting a tasting of her father's iconic Italian wines.

Xavier Rousset and Aggi Sverrisson received rave reviews following the launch of their joint venture, Texture, which opened in September. The former head sommelier and head chef at Le Manoir Aux Quats' Saisons will discuss the importance of a close working relationship to ensure the best customer experience.

Food and wine matching will be a strong theme at Wine+ 2008 with popular figures including Patricia Michelson of La Fromagerie and The Cinnamon Club's Vivek Singh all hosting tasting events.

Michelson will be joined by Anthony Demetre, who introduced wines by the carafe at Arbutus and Wild Honey. The two will explore unusual matches including spirits and cheese. Other top participating sommeliers include UK Sommelier of the Year, Nicolas Clerc (The Milestone Hotel), Hamish Anderson (The Tate) and Arnauld Goubet (Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons).

New Zealand Winegrowers will be exploring the country's aromatic wines with top Kiwi chef, Peter Gordon of The Providores whilst The Cinnamon Club's Mike Worrall and Vivek Singh, will discuss the merits of pairing Champagne with spicy food.

Restaurateurs Martin Lam from Ransome's Dock, Roger Jones of the Harrow Inn and Arbutus co-founder, Will Smith, will deliberate the pros and cons of wine by the glass and David Morgan-Hewitt, managing director of The Goring will advise on promoting apéritifs and digestives.

Pub and bar professionals will be able to learn from the best in the industry. Whitbread wine and spirit buyer, Eileen Ginger will be discussing the importance of training whilst award-winning duo Will Beckett and Huw Gott of the Underdog Group will demonstrate how successful outsourcing can improve business.

Wine+ is the only wine show dedicated solely to the on-trade. The 2008 event will showcase some 90 exhibitors from major suppliers to small independents and generics. The comprehensive seminar schedule with tutored tastings and business focused presentations is one of the many highlights of Wine+ along with the Taste Zones, where visitors can sample wines without sales pressure, and the French Wines Discovery Lounge which will showcase wines selected by wine experts and provide an area to meet colleagues or network.

Wine+ takes place in the National Hall, Olympia on 16 and 17 January 2008.
