Mosaico Restaurant To Launch London's First Authentic Aperitivo

Acclaimed Mayfair restaurant Mosaico, 13 Albemarle Street, have launched London's first authentic Aperitivo evening. A custom celebrated across Italy, particularly in Milan, Aperitivo marks the end of the working day, as locals meet in restaurants and bars to enjoy an aperitif served with traditional Italian appetisers.

Every Thursday between 5.30 and 7.30pm, guests at Aperitivo can order authentic Italian drinks, such as Prosecco, Bellini, Milano Torino and Negroni, which are served alongside delicious, complimentary appetisers, including 'Ruota di Parmigiano' (Parmesan wheel), 'Moscardini sott'olio' (marinated baby octopus), 'Olive ascolane' (deep fried breaded olives), 'Involtini di tonno con salsa piccante' (tuna fish roulade) and home-made focaccia and pizzette.

Formerly named Bice, Mosaico re-launched under new management in 2003 and has thrived ever since. Head chef Matteo Mistrorigo, who previously worked at London's Harry's Bar, has created a contemporary Italian menu, highlighting the country's fantastic fresh and seasonal ingredients. Starters include 'Beef carpaccio with artichokes and almonds', 'Fresh crab meat salad with borlotti beans and rocket' and 'Fresh buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad with basil olive oil'. Home-made pasta dishes such as 'Tagliatelle with prawns, rocket and Pachino cherry tomatoes' and 'Gratinated green tagliolini with Parma ham' precede main dishes, including 'Fillet of lamb wrapped in Speck ham and leeks with aubergines', 'Wild sea bass with mashed tomatoes and broccoli' and 'Veal Milanese style with rocket salad and tomatoes'.

Mosaico follows a sophisticated design, with tables dressed in white linen surrounded by a mixture of simple wooden chairs, alongside banquettes upholstered in deep red. There is also a private dining room integrated in to the main restaurant but which can be separated via sliding wooden doors, offering an ideal space for meetings, parties, a private dinner or a lunch event.

A 100-cover restaurant, Mosaico prides itself on its uniquely Italian wine list, which offers an array of choice from all corners of Italy. Sommelier Danilo Corallini provides the expertise when it comes to wine suggestions to accompany any of the dishes.
