Into Cooking participants with Anton Mosimann and Darius Danesh

Young People Cook Up A Storm Thanks To Mosimann's And Youth Charity

Top chef Anton Mosimann OBE and pop singer Darius Danesh were present at a special reception on 16 June 2006 to celebrate five unemployed young people from London, completing a Prince's Trust catering course.

The Prince's Trust Get Into Cooking initiative gives disadvantaged 16-25 year olds, the opportunity of a lifetime, giving them hands-on experience by working at Mosimann's exclusive Club. Hosted by Anton Mosimann and funded by The Strathmore Mineral Water Company, the week-long course gives participants the chance to learn new skills, which will help towards securing a job in the catering industry in the future.

As well as learning to prepare food in Mosimann's kitchens, the action-packed week also included an early morning trip to Covent Garden food market and a tour of the catering facilities at a Jarvis hotel.

Trust Ambassador Anton Mosimann, who for the fourth year running has supported the initiative, said: "The Prince's Trust's Get Into programme is a fantastic combination - providing opportunities for young people who haven't had the best start or chances in life, and giving them an insight into the hospitality industry. I'm very proud to be able to support the initiative."

All five participants were honoured with certificates at a special cocktail reception and received these from Prince's Trust ambassador and pop singer Darius Danesh. They will all now go on to receive follow-up support from The Prince's Trust, helping them to fulfil their career aspirations.

Trust ambassador Darius Danesh who attended the presentation, comments: "The Prince's Trust Get Into Cooking course is excellent and each of the participants seemed to have got a lot out of it and were all brimming with confidence. It's great to hear that they are all determined to get a job in the catering industry now."

The 'Get Into' courses were developed in response to The Trust's research which showed young people want worthwhile jobs, which offered them career opportunities but often felt held back in life by their lack of skills, experience and qualifications. This programme therefore aims to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds develop their practical skills and move into employment.

The Trust runs the 'Get Into' programme in other industry sectors including coffee, maritime, hospitality, customer care and rural based industries. These are delivered via a variety of corporate partners related to those industries in order to provide relevant work experience.
