Today, PIE is a
producer, wholesaler and retailer of premium quality handmade pies,
with a retail outlet in London Bridge, a thriving wholesale business
and plans to open more sites in London and the South East.
"Many pies had
become little more than half filled pastry skips, where the unusable
cuts were hidden in soggy pastry and then sold as cheap as possible.
We at PIE decided to do something different: We use prime cuts of
locally sourced free range meat, great quality fresh herbs and
vegetables and create ingenious fillings which we then wrap in
delicious light puff pastry. The pies are not formed in tin foil, so
they bake all round and are as good eaten from the hand as they are
plated with mash potato and gravy," says Patrick Robertson, MD.
