Sagatiba: The Pure Spirit of Brazil

Sagatiba cachaça, the essential ingredient for a refreshing summer Caipirinha has arrived on our shores. Combining the Nordic suffix 'saga' which means 'legendary search' with the Brazilian native word 'tiba' meaning 'infinite', Sagatiba literally means an infinite search - a search for quality, purity and flavour.

Distilled from fresh sugar cane juice, the result is Sagatiba Pura: a premium cachaça with a pure, clean spirit, smooth taste and a soft, crystal-clean aroma. Aside from Pura, Sagatiba also produces Sagatiba Velha, a blend of the finest Brazilian cachaças, which are then slowly aged in oak barrels. The result is a cachaça that embodies care and attention to every last detail - a golden liquid with a fruity aroma and full bodied flavour, perfect for drinking straight.

Due to its purity, quality and smooth taste, Sagatiba is the most versatile cachaça available in the market. It, like no other, makes a great Caipirinha - the most Brazilian of drinks, but the possibilities it can provide go way beyond the traditional mix. From twists on classic cocktails, such as the Mojito, to more contemporary concoctions, Sagatiba is the most versatile of spirits.

In December 2005, Sagatiba was chosen as one of the best distilled spirits in the world by the Beverage Tasting Institute of Chicago, one of the most respected professional tasting and drink analysis institutions. Sagatiba Velha Esplêndida and Sagatiba Pura achieved 91 and 92 points out of 100 respectively, and were classified as 'exceptional', the only cachaças ever to have attained this accolade.

Sagatiba is available at all Selfridges and Harvey Nichols food halls, as well as Waitrose supermarkets and Oddbins branches nationwide (RRP: £13.49). Sagatiba can also be found at the UK's leading bars and restaurants including: (London) Hakkasan, Londsdale, The Eclipse, Smiths of Smithfield, Lab, Salvatore at Fifty. (Leeds): Mojo, Oporto. Sandinista. (Edinburgh): Opal Lounge, Indigo Yard.
