Tony
Blair Contributes To Charity Opening To Raise Funds For 7/7 Victims
|
Prime
Minister Tony Blair has joined with local businesses and private
individuals by generously pledging support to the event by donating
items for a charity auction and raffle. The Prime Minister has
donated a pen inscribed with his signature which will enter the
auction alongside motor racing memorabilia donated by local Formula
Palmer Audi driver Aaron Steele and many other exciting items.
The new
destination restaurant for curry aficionados, Lily Spice, opens to
the public on Friday 7th July with a Charity Evening in aid of the
London Bombings Charitable Relief Fund, the official charity set up
after the 2005 7/7 attacks in London. Ali and Mukid Chowdhury, local
restaurateurs and owners of Lily Spice, are great supporters of many
charitable causes both in the UK and the land of their forefathers
India, said "We really wanted the public opening to have a
purpose and when the date coincided with the first anniversary of the
terrible events of 12 months ago We decided to mark the occasion by
raising much needed funds for the victims of 7/7. We want customers
new and old to enjoy a fantastic evening at our new restaurant and at
the same time help to support those who were so unfortunately
affected by what happened."
It is certain
that 1 or 2 well known local faces will make an appearance and back
this worthwhile cause. Tickets are available at just £20 a head
for a traditional curry meal with a glass of wine. Throughout the
evening there will be entertainment, a chance to participate in fund
raising activities, a raffle and grand charity auction.
Ali and Mukid
Choudhury are the owners of the Ace of Spice traditional Indian
restaurant on Watling Street. Ali and Mukid have built a sound
reputation for good traditional Indian fare.
The
acquisition of what was formerly a Little Chef and then the transport
café 'Porkies' on the A249 at Detling Hill has enabled a
regeneration and revitalisation of this roadside eatery and improved
the general ambience of the area.
Ali and Mukid
identified that its central location on a main route between Medway
and Maidstone provided an ideal opportunity to deliver an exciting
new destination for curry lovers in Kent and typically a great place
to meet to do business over a superb curry lunch with easy access and
plenty of free parking it beats town centre venues and creates a
relaxed meeting environment.
