One of
Glasgow West End's best-loved Indian restaurants has launched an
exciting new tapas menu - with the aim of allowing its legions of
loyal diners to sample the broadest possible range of dishes at
easily-affordable prices.
The Spice of
Life in Argyle Street, part of Harlequin Group, can now offer patrons
a superb array of tapas-style dishes covering a broad spectrum of
Asian cuisine, from delectable vegetarian dishes to
regionally-inspired specialities - and with plenty of accompaniments
to match.
Portions are
generous - but not as filling as you'd find in the regular dining
menu, meaning you can comfortably sample different and contrasting
dishes during one sitting.
Restaurant
boss Nasreen Aksi said: "On the one hand not everybody wishes
a large meal every time they visit, and on the other we've realised
that no matter how many times you enjoy the Spice of Life cuisine you
always wish you'd been able to try more of the dishes available.
"By
launching our special tapas menu we can both accommodate the lighter
appetite and, just as important, allow diners to sample from a very
broad range of choices - and at a very reasonable cost."
Some of the
far from standard choices include, for example, Parsee Machhi,
which is fish cooked in a rich rojanjosh and patia sauce; while the
vegetarian choices include classic lentil-based dish Tarka Daal
- and savoury delight aloo ghobi (potato and cauliflower). The
chicken dishes range from home-style chicken curry, Murgh Shorba,
to Butter Chicken Lakhnavi, which is cooked with ginger,
garlic, cream and yoghurt.
Lamb dishes on
the tapas menu are in a class of their own too - try, for example, Boti
Lamb, cooked desi style on the bone; or Lamb Malwa,
cooked with red peppers and spinach leaves.
Each dish
costs only £3.45 to £4.25, and accompaniments like the Mini
Spice Paratha (£1.25) are also terrific value.
