Rémy Martin Bartender Style Masters 2007

Manchester's Jamie Stephenson has seen off contenders from around the globe to be crowned Rémy Martin Bartender Style Master 2007. Following a series of international heats in 13 different countries, 28 of the world's finest bartenders united in Rémy Martin's headquarters in Cognac on the 5th June to compete for the highly coveted industry title.

Rémy Martin, distributed by Maxxium UK, is the market leader of superior quality cognacs and thoroughly committed to celebrating and nurturing excellence in the on-trade. Now in its third year, the prestigious Bartender Style Masters challenges professionals worldwide to explore and promote the versatility of Rémy Martin Fine Champagne Cognac.

Each finalist sat a written exam and was asked to demonstrate their understanding and appreciation of the smooth complex flavours of Rémy Martin VSOP by creating a simple mixed drink for mass on-trade use. Bartenders were also asked to create a 'perfect serve' for a panel of judges -which included last year's Style Master Champion from the Netherlands Robert Schinkel - using Rémy Martin's XO. The 'perfect serve' had to be a rounded brand experience and therefore had to stimulate and satisfy each of the five senses - taste, touch, smell, sight and sound.

Talented Stephenson walked away with the title and a 4,000 Euro cash prize after impressing the judging panel with his extensive brand knowledge, passion, and his tantalising mixed drink, Ode to Chiron - an exquisite yet simple blend of Rémy Martin VSOP, freshly pressed apple juice and Cream Soda.

Samuel Kingue from the Netherlands was awarded 2nd prize and 3000 euros whilst Niko Autti from Finland came third and walked away with a 2000 euros prize.

Brand Ambassador Alex Quintin comments: "The Bartender Style Masters both recognises and rewards superior talent in the industry and encourages bartenders to explore the brand in innovative ways.

"The Style Masters competition brings cognac to life, stylishly showcasing its potential and judging by the phenomenal entries this year, I am incredibly excited about the direction in which the category is heading! Today, Remy Martin is number one in the world for quality superior cognac using grapes exclusively from the heart of the cognac region. This unique aromatic intensity is accentuated in Stephenson's winning serve."
