The
Gourmet Restaurant Group has acquired the Indian restaurant and
take-away chain the Bombay Bicycle Club.
The deal also
coincides with the acquisition of Indian food and restaurant group Vama,
making the Gourmet Restaurant Group - which also owns the Tiffinbites
brand - the largest Indian restaurant group in the UK.
The recent
acquisitions reinforce the Group's strategy to consolidate the
branded Indian dining offering on the high street and bring a good
quality, healthy and authentic Indian eating experience to the mass market.
Jamal Hirani,
CEO & Founder, commented: "Our company mission is to give
diners the opportunity to experience authentic Indian food of the
best quality at whatever their price point, and the acquisition today
completes the Group's offering and ensures our presence in all areas
of the Indian dining market."
Tiffinbites
currently operates eight outlets in the Greater London area,
including sites in Harrods and Selfridges, with planned franchised
branches in Oxford, Leeds and Birmingham. In addition, an
international expansion plan will see the opening of two sites in
Dubai in October.
The Vama
Group consists of a fine dining restaurant on Kings Road, London, Khana
by Vama which supplies catering for the
airline market, as well as a corporate event and wedding catering
business. The Gourmet Restaurant Group also operates a large
wholesale catering business to blue chip companies across the UK.
