London's Best Inexpensive Restaurant Celebrates 24 Years

 

 

Babur Brasserie (London SE23), London's best inexpensive restaurant according to Harden's 2009, celebrates its 24th anniversary from 15 July to 31 August. For its 24th Baburthday - a year for every hour in the day - Babur's talented chefs have come up with a tasting menu that eats its way around the clock.

The menu encompasses not only breakfast, lunch, dinner and a midnight snack (all served as a four-course meal in the evening), but also the broad range of Indian cuisines - from traditional regional to modern Indian cooking - Babur has become known for. The 24th anniversary menu will be served at £29.95, with the option of drinks matched to each course for an additional £12.

Lunch
Organic chicken and corn kebab, dhokla with smoked mango chutney, smoked aubergine salsa, smoked cumin popcorn

Served with Verdelho, Herdade do Esporao, 2007, Alentejo Portugal

Dinner
24-hour marinated goat shoulder, spinach gnocchi, brown onion gravy, chilli-garlic grissini

Served with Anadaluna Malbec, 2007, Tupangato, Mendoza, Argentina

Midnight snack
Pumpkin halwa, masala tea kulfi, passion fruit yoghurt, sesame seed brittle

Served with Orange Muscat Essencia, 2007, Andrew Quady, California
