The sixth branch of award-winning
group Masala World (includes Amaya, Chutney Mary & Veeraswamy)
was launch in Bayswater on 8th July in the face of one of the most
severe recessions Britain has ever known.
|
Announcing the opening, veteran
restaurateur Ranjit Mathrani, Chairman of the Masala World Group,
apologized for the absence of fellow directors Namita and Camellia
Panjabi (abroad in India) and commented that Masala Zone existed
because "they offer real Indian food unlike the other 9,999
restaurants in the sector in Britain". |
 |
He did go on to acknowledge the
very difficult financial times that exist but feels that Masala
Zone's unique, high value product will see the group through to
continued success.
Masala Zone, which offers food
eaten on Indian Streets (without the attending stomach problems),
serves about 600,000 customers a year and is perhaps the leading
casual dining Indian cuisine restaurant concept in the country. |
The impressive site of the 110
seater Bayswater branch was formerly a bank and offers as its theme,
an exotic pop art collage of firecracker labels from the town of
Sivakasi in Southern Tamil Nadu, home to the world's largest printing
press. The first Masala Zone opened in Soho in 2001 and a new branch
is planned for Fulham later this year to continue offering the public
delicious, authentic and wholesome Indian food.
