Amani, an exotic new lounge restaurant in the heart of Leith, has
opened its doors just in time for the opening of Sex and The City 2
and, to celebrate, is offered a complimentary Cosmopolitan cocktail
to all female diners from Friday 28th May to Friday 4th June.
Amani, which translates as 'inspiration', has been designed by Silvia
Sanjurjo who was intent on introducing somewhere different and exotic
to the Capital's culinary scene; just the kind of opulent and chi-chi
destination venue that the discerning Sex and The City girls would
naturally gravitate towards.
And given that Sex and The City 2 takes the intrepid foursome out of
their natural New York habitat and into Abu Dhabi, Amani's exotic
fusion of Moroccan, Mediterranean and classic Punjabi within a
seductive and elegant environment is simply the perfect place for
fans of the movie to indulge themselves in some pre or post screening delicacies.
Ms Sanjurjo said, "Amani is much more than a restaurant; it's
somewhere special to come and relax, sip a cocktail and chill out
with a shisha pipe or indulge yourself from our eclectic menu. Amani
is unique, sophisticated, glamorous, exotic and sexy!"
Starters at Amani include: crab samosas (traditional triangular crab
and sweetcorn filled pastries with a mint and sweet chilli dip);
Shahi vegetable cutlets (potato cutlets stuffed with almonds,
sultanas, brie and paneer cheese served with a fresh mint and mango
chutney) and Nargasi kebab (boiled quail eggs wrapped in lamb mince
and a kashmiri mirch tomato salsa).
Mains include: Hedrabadi lamb korma (lamb shank braised in a yogurt
and tomato broth with authentic korma spices and garnished with
toasted almonds and pistachios); Anoka chicken (tempura fried chicken
goujons topped with a red pepper and asparagus) and
Medina mackerel fillets (baked mackerel fillets with cous cous,
drizzled with tamarind and date jus).
Desserts meanwhile include: cardamon crème bruleé;
banana tart de'tan and strawberry and orange flower pavlova.
Amani manager Imtiaz Hussain invites customers to savour a
tantalising light lunch, an exotic dinner or, if they're simply
looking to chill, to drop in to its lounge for a glass of champagne,
an original cocktail or a glass or two from its exquisite wine list.
Mr Hussain said, "Cinema-goers inspired to try something new
might be tempted to experience a shisha pipe in our alfresco dining
area, whilst parties of eight or more may wish to indulge their
tastebuds with our magnificent Royal Chef's table in either the
exclusive Maharanni or Maharaja rooms, where they can enjoy the
dishes that were created for the Royal Moguls that once ruled India."
Amani's cosmopolitan credentials extend beyond the signature cocktail
to encompass its staff, all of whom have been hand-picked from as far
afield as Lahore, Dubai, North West Spain and, of course, Scotland,
all clothed in traditional Sherwani and Salwaar costume.
Amani is conveniently located in Bernard Street in the heart of Leith
close to Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and the Malmaison Hotel. Log
